Happy New Year!

2008

I remember when I was in eighth grade and we had to write about what we thought life would be like in the year 2000.

Flying cars (everyone thought so because of the Back To The Future movie(s) ).

Anyway, here we are in 08′ and instead of flying cars we have soaring gas prices.

Great.

On a side note: why is that Americans seem so apathetic to the rediculously high gas prices?  Could you imagine this happening in the 60′s!?  God bless the bend over and take it culture of America.

So, what did you do for New Year’s Eve?  Laura and I spent it kid-free.  Our neighbors down the road have kids our age and invited our kids to come down for their New Years Eve party.  Sweet.  Laura and I rented movies, ate fast food and ice cream and brought the New Year in the right way.

We talked about what we wanted to do this New Year and how we wanted it to go.  When asked, Laura said:

“Smooth”

We both laughed.  2007 has been such a rollercoaster ride (I did ride them this year!).  Let me high light some of it for you and then we’ll talk resolutions:

~ Laura, nuff said

~ SwEEtEst Day!!!

~ Mallory, Laura’s daughter- she makes me smile

~ All the help from my family: they are rocks I thought they were

~ Overcoming my biggest phobia and riding several rollercoasters at Cedar Point

~ 82 in June – wow

~ The concerts: Tesla, Styx and Def Leppard

~ Pistons v. Cavaliers: game 5 Easter Conference Finals for Laura’s Birthday – The King was crowned

~ Acting like Animals

~ July 4th

~ August 13th

~ Remodeling the house

~ Hold’em, Hold’em, and more Hold’em

~ Blue Moon and Red Stripe (don’t hate on it)

Alright, moving on.  What about this year?  I have somethings I want to do: finish my first year of school, E!, finish remodeling (egress window, painting, landscaping!, etc), pay off some debt (I am going to be in super budget mode this year, I think).

Smooth year.  I hope.

    Smooth.

I can totally agree with Laura, though part of the reason we learn and grown is because things aren’t smooth…but just for once, it would be nice.

I think that you made for yourself a very nice year despite things not being smooth at all. You have done well with what is best for your family. I don’t know if you wondered in the 8th grade what kind of man and father you would be in the year 2007, but you would have made yourself proud if 8th grade Toby could see you now.

Anyhow…E!…as in the entertainment show? Resolving to watch more…?

And Hold’em, hold’em, hold’em!!! The year of the Big Guns!

We love ya and Happy New Year!

When I was in eighth grade I had to write what I thought I’d be doing in 2000 too! Must be something the schools made everyone do. I just remember thinking, “I’ll be old!”
