“Yeah, yeah, who cares, you look like a fat gay guy!”

Kevin Garnet is come to Boston! Holy cow. How come Detroit couldn’t pulled this off? Garnet, Allen and Pierce in Boston? Wow. Miami will be tough, Cleveland will be defending Conference Champs and Detroit? Well, we’ll see how we stack up.

Abortion

What is really at the heart of the abortion issue? Is it human rights? Is it the sanctity of human life? Is it the protection of the unborn? Is it something else? I’ve been reading some comments made about it here, and it’s gotten me thinking. Laura and I had an interesting discussion about it this morning before breakfast, and I have still been thinking about it.

I remember preaching on this subject twice while I was a pastor. I took the approach that God is all about defending the defenseless and helping the helpless. I never dealt with the timing of conception, the beginning of life, safe sex, woman’s rights, etc.

I’m not trying to open a can of worms here, but I am curious as to what you think is at the core of the issue (I hate that term). If there is a discussion about it here let’s keep it as civil as possible…yeah, right, who am I kidding. Your thoughts are on deck…

Ludo!

I have a new man crush…Ludo Lullabi

He is doing the concept art (and drawing the comic) for the new World of Warcraft comic.

Check out his stuff while I busy myself with downloading it to inspire my come back…

Mirror, Mirror…my favorite Def song!

House payment…

Making my first one this summer next week. It’s been nice not paying one for a couple months.

Excitable!

Tommy Shaw IS David Spade!

Tommy Shaw (lead singer/lead guitarist of Styx) IS David Spade…see for yourself. Who’s who?

Def Leppard!

I don’t have much time, but I wanted to tell you all how AWESOME the concert was Tuesday night! Laura and I went to see Styx & Def Leppard at DTE. Having never been to DTE I wasn’t sure what to expect – their facilities are top notch and it was a great place for a concert.

Styx were great! I grew up listening to them (I have fond memories of playing guitar with my mom’s broom to Renegade and air piano to To Much Time On My Hands. They really kept the crowd going, and played all my favorites (they didn’t play Lady, though…bums).

Laura and I were both a little nervous to see Def. One, because they are our favorite band. Two, because they are older and we wondered how they would do live. And three, because they just put out a CD called “Yeah” which features them doing covers of all their favorite bands growing up and we were praying like crazy that this show wouldn’t be that CD.

It wasn’t, they didn’t show their age, and they proved, once again, why they were worthy of “favorite” status.

They kicked off with “Rocket” (one of my least fav’s, but live, it well, Rocks(ets?)). Then they did two more from Hysteria, including, Excitable (which is one of my fav’s off Hysteria!). See, I have always liked the non-radio songs more than the radio songs off their CD’s, so when they played Excitable, Mirror Mirror (my all time fav, tied with God’s of War), and Hit and Run along with a rippin version of Switch 625 at the tail end of Heartbreak, I was in heaven. I was jumpin around like a kid in a candy store!

The concert was amazing, seriously, and if they ever come anywhere near Michigan again, we’ll be there for sure! Thank you, Baby, for the amazing time!

(I forgot to charge my digital, so these were taken with a crappy disposable, and they make it look farther away than it really was…and they make me look heavier, too! LOL!)

Stat Counters

I have noticed on some of your blogs you have a StatCounter somewhere on your page. I go through statcounter.com for mine. Here are my counts so far this year:

Feb 07: 1613
Mar 07: 1492
Apr 07: 2855

(June & July haven’t been calculated since I did not have it linked to my site, I think).

Catching Up 07/22

Been a busy week. My boss(es) are out of town. Work has been crazy; anything that can go wrong did.

Had the kids for four days straight which was a BLAST! Got my living room painted and am almost done with it. We’re doing one of the basement stairway walls, too, so when it’s done I’ll post pictures.

We took the kids to Alpenfest on the worst possible day. 57 degrees. Rainy. But, kids being kids, they loved it, and parents being parents, we loved it. Pictures forth coming.

I also did some landscaping stuff in the front of the house. It looks good.

Did I mention I also bought a lawnmower? Sweet.

I also organized the laundry room. I know, I know, what business does a guy have in a laundry room? Well, my laundry room has been so backed up lately. I have tons of clean clothes, just not folded and put away, and so I had to re-wash them all, fold them and get them ready to be put away. Anyway, it’s livable now, and it’s organized enough for me!

This week we’re going to see Def Leppard. Shut up, Corey.

This weekend is Canoe Race Weekend in Grayling, and we’ll be there for that, too. Haven’t missed one since I can remember (unless you count when I was living in Egypt, I mean Texas). My kids love it. I have the weekend off, so it should tons of fun.

I have been drawing more lately. A guy at work is drawing, too, and he and I draw throughout the day (don’t tell my boss *wink*). Today I was thinking about how I need to really get going with this stuff and how I need to get working on my Kubert School of Art stuff and when I came home from work Laura had my Kubert SoA stuff sitting out! It’s like she can read my mind…(hey, baby, guess what I am thinking of right now!).

I bought Keith Urban’s first solo CD (he did a stint with the Ranch) the other day. The circle is now complete. I’m still ticked that he isn’t coming to Michigan. I learned “Your Everything” on guitar that night. Wonderful song.

In other news Keelie, Corey’s wife, is now blogging. She’s posing pregnant style and I can’t help but think that my belly is bigger. It should be, I’ve been pregnant longer! I love Keelie. I admire her strength and what she has gone through over the years and how she is coming through it all on a better side. I also think she is nuts for marrying Corey – but, hey, we’re all a little crazy aren’t we?

On a personal note, I have been working through some strong feelings, thoughts, lately. I have this feeling of, well, I don’t know what to call it…completion? Maybe I’ll explain some time in another post.

What happens to you if you don’t fill out the juror stuff they send you? I don’t want to be involved in one, ever.

About 3 months ago I put together some songs on a playlist I entitled “Where I’m At”. I’m jammin to it right now. I lift weights to it, too. Here’s the playlist:

Eruption, Van Halen
Out Ta Get Me, Guns N Roses
The Threat, Skid Row
No Good, Lynch Mob
5150, Van Halen
The Way It Is, Tesla
Carolina, James Taylor
What About Me, Keith Urban
You’ll Think of Me, Keith Urban
Summer Nights, Van Halen
Paper Sun, Def Leppard
Something To Believe In, Poison
Heaven In Your Eyes, Loverboy
Best of Both Worlds, Van Halen
Good To Yourself, Journey
Switch 625, Def Leppard

Meanwhile, Jay has been posting some old photos on his blog, which include pictures of me when I was young, athletic, slim and handsome. Where did that boy go? Here’s one from his blog. The guy I am with is Ricky, one of my best bros.

Anyway, I suppose it’s time for me to go get started on my drawing, signed up for Art Online, watch HGTV, and probably pick on the guitar some. I’ll probably end up reading and going to bed…

Really!?

NEW YORK — The FBI is investigating allegations that a veteran NBA referee bet on basketball games over the past two seasons, including ones in which he officiated.
