Game Five Time

Going to see Game Five of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight where the Pistons face the Cavaliers. My company reserves tickets for its employees at a discounted rate so I had to jump on it. Thanks Jay for watching the kids so we could go; you’re the bestest ever!

Deep Shift

Brian McLaren is up to something…again.
He’s in deep shift.
A New Kind of Christian changed me, challenged me, encouraged me, and called me to be what I think I need to become.
I’ll be looking into this more as the days go by.

Detoxing From Church

A couple days ago I posted about my, oh, I suppose, apathy about church. Here is an article that I posted a year or more ago and one that I think speaks for me about what I have went through in the last almost year now. The article is called “Detoxing from Church”. [...]

Dear Josh

I have missed you so much lately, and I am not sure why. It’s not that we don’t see each other as much as we used to (although some weeks I have to work more than others) but I think it’s more of the quality of time that we have together.
I miss our adventures.
I [...]

Diet

So what that the first three letters spell “die”?
I still need to do it.
Just need to change some eating habits is all.
Like not eating so much.
But, that box of Goobers was soooo good…

Maxiell: a man among men

Jason Maxiell is just a big, strong, hairy chested man among men for the Detroit Pistons. I’m lying her watching game two (and biting my nails) and Max is just playing out of his mind. He is a beast.
And how about C Webb. Is Webb not just the best passing big man [...]

Pondo Convos

“Pastor Toby”
That’s what some of the young ladies at work call me. Of course, they are harassing me (which is par for the course for these kids. They are hilarious to work with!).
“Or do you prefer ‘Pastor Neal’?”
“I’m kinda fond of ‘Toby’ if you don’t mind. And, besides, I have never been [...]

Graduations

My daughter, Alaina, graduated from pre-school last night. I wish you could have seen her. She was more into her sandals and braids than she was the program. She’s just like her dad in many ways.
Tonight my son, Joshua (who refers to himself as “Josh”…why? “Because I like the name, Josh.” ;) [...]

Church smurch

Jay is posting some good stuff about authentic Christianity and is beginning a conversation about where church should be heading in the realm in which he has learned it (fundamentalism).
I responded to his posts, but I honestly don’t feel that my comments have merit. Not that my experiences and understanding don’t have merit, but [...]

Insecurities

I have them.
We all do.
I just wonder some times why mine rule me.
I wish they didn’t.
But how to change that, I know not.
Any suggestions…?

Truth, Right and the Christian Way

Being right has long been seen as the mantra of Christianity. They know the truth, and the truth has set them free; free to be right, and free to make it known in whatever way possible (even if it means trampling on people’s humanity in the process) to make that known. This is [...]
