The whole cd and nothing but the cd!

I know some people buy cd’s because they like this song or that song. It’s only natural. I have, and probably will buy them for the same reason.

What sometimes happens though is that the whole cd never gets listened to. Or, what usually happens is there are like 2 good songs on the cd, but the rest sucks.

I bought a Keith Urban cd, Golden Road, because I liked his song that was popular at the time, “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me?”. Then I listened to the cd in its entirety. For those who know me know I am a HUGE Keith Urban fan.

I am a huge fan because I like his cd’s. Not just the individual songs…but how the cd plays out. How it all fits together. And, not that it tells a story or that it has a theme, per se, but it all fits. It all goes toegther. His cd’s are greatness. I love cd’s (I’m so used to saying “albums”) that you can put in, not for the individual songs, but for the cd. Does any of this make sense? How about you? Do you feel the same?

I want a Pepsi…bad!

My wife is gone. My kids are in bed. And I want a Pepsi and we don’t have any in the house!

Pigeon River Festival!

Friday: “You’re a preacher?”

Played in the first ever Pigeon River Festival Texas Hold’em Tournament last night. 31 people started the tournament. I finished 3rd! 1st-5th were in the money. What a great way to raise funds for the PRF.

Saturday: “Grab the pig and don’t let go!”

PRF’s parade far outdid Gaylords! And the kids collected a bucket load of candy! They even got stuffed animals! Wow.

Tim’s flyers went out, and they looked good (see the logo in the post below).

Joshua and Alaina found over 6$ worth of change in the “search for buried treasure in the straw” game. Seriously. They are like metal detectors when it comes to money…

I tied for 3rd in the men’s 3-point shootout. I think five guys shot. It was raining pretty heavy by then.

Both my kids entered the “catch a pig” contest. Once they touched the greasy pig, that was enough for them. Needless to say, some other kid won. Alaina felt bad for the pig (even though she was the first to grab it!).

While it rained the kids played games and ate under the big tent, and I partnered with Joe for the ring toss tournament. Never did it before. Joe and I are in the finals. However, I left before they finished it, so who knows how Joe did. Bummer, there was a 50$ purse for first place. Oh well.

Took the kids home so we could get some warm, dry clothes on. When I got back it was too late to get in the “Older vs. Younger” soft-ball game. So, I watched and made fun of people. Needling friends is one of my favorite outdoor sports! Good game. Man, in the 5th, the Younger team put this chick on the mound…holy smokes, she pitched the softball so fast you could barely see it! She must have been throwing it 60-70 mph! We still lost.

Pig roast hit the spot. Our church and the Community church both pitched in and got the pig. Northern Lights Christian Fellowship roasted it. I got to visit with Ella, who’s husband passed away a couple months ago. We all were close.

It was a fun day. The festival is really growing. I think they need to get more venders involved, and maybe have some more games for the kids (although, to their credit, the rain did hinder what games they had). But, you could feel the momentum building for this year and I think it’s moving in a positive direction all in all.
